Nestled next to a peaceful valley of the Eastern Sierra Madre Mountains,
Zacatlán is located three hours from Mexico City by bus.
This mountainous northern region of the state of Puebla is a fertile
and beautiful area where pine forests abound at higher altitudes
and lush semi-tropical vegetation exists at lower elevations.

The area has a large indigenous population of mostly Nahuatl and
Totonac peoples. There are many handicrafts of the Sierra Norte
region, including shawls, wood carvings, and baskets, which can
be found in the markets of Zacatlán.

Tourists have not yet discovered this quaint Mexican town. The
45,000 inhabitants earn their living primarily through small business
and agriculture. The surrounding region offers many opportunities
for exploration and adventure.
In mid-August, traditional songs and dances are a part of Zacatláns
yearly Apple Festival.
